On the first day coming back from holiday, we were asked to go to The Jewish Cemetery at Jalan Zainal Abidin which called Jalan Yahudi.

Intention: Go to the Jewish Cemetery and study about it.
Actor: All student of RUS101 studio.
Act: Go to the Jewish Cemetery and take pictures on the tombstones.
Rule: Must go there to study.
Product: Post in RUS101 blog.
Place: Jewish Cemetery at Jalan Zainal Abidin.

Star of David which is the symbol of Jewish identity and Judaism can be found on most of the tombstones

The Cemetery is located at the town area which surrounded by buildings, but still a lot of people know it existence even the local people

According to the aunty which watch over the place, the Jewish people will come once a year. I never thought that there will be Jewish Cemetery in Malaysia. If there are Jewish Cemetery here, then there must be Jewish people in Malaysia.

This is the monument that I designed using bamboo. The story of my whole life will be write on the monument.

Looking Back & Forward

LOOKING BACK

Here, I should thank to the Mr Wan B and Dr Llias because they made me look back to my past and think about why I'm been here for.

Still remember the day that I received the news that I'm been accepted by USM...I was so happy and excited that time.

Everyone was glad and happy for me and I promised not to disappoint them. My uncle helps me a lot on financial and so the preparation to come to USM. The hopes from family is so high.

Sometimes, I forget about their hopes on me and the promise that I had made to myself to study hard here.

Now, I will think about how hard my life before, hopes from family and the promise that I had done everyday as motivation for me to do better in this 3 years university life~

Besides, the way of RUS101 studio that ask us to blog all our work is really a good way for us to recall back what we had done and learnt befare.

I hope from now on, I can do better than what I had did before.

Looking Forward

As a student major in QS, to become a registered quantity surveyor will be the target for me in my career. Maybe I will proceed my master in construction management if it only take 1 year time.

I hope I can gain more knowledge in different field because I believe that knowledge can change our life and the way we think. It not just about to earn more money but it make our life more meaningful.

I hope that there will be no disaster come on 2012, because I still don't want to die yet since there still a lot of things that I want to do.

But, I will be always prepare to facing anything that will happen in the future.

Assignment 6: Survival Kit

Here, our assignment on Raya...

This assignment required us to design survival kit which will be used in IBU using the inventions by USM. Based on the task given, my design will only focus on the survival kit instead of the whole design of the IBU.

The inventions that I used to apply on my survival kit are:

Water Treatment System
Water is the most important and basic element for us to survive, hence water treatment system to produce clean water is a compulsory on IBU.
This water treatment system is made up of 3 parts which is the ClaySorb Adsorption Treatment, Nanofiltration Treatment and BioPHA.

ClaySorb Adsorption Treatment

• ClaySorb which used in this adsorption treatment is very effective to absorb different toxic pollutants from wastewater.
• It is much cheaper than commercial activated carbon.
• It is easily prepared using economically processing techniques.
• It is easily stored and extremely stable under high impact
  

Nanofiltration Treatment

• Negligible amount of chemicals
• requires small treatment area
• is hassle-free
• is rigid and suitable for all seasons
• Highly rejects pesticides and metal contaminants due to its small pore size
• Ensure continuous clean and safe drinking water for people
  

BioPHA

• BioPHA is an Eco-friendly probe
• It is made of disposable, zero-waste material
• It is used to monitor the performance of wastewater treatment

Bakery Machine
Bread will be the main food in the IBU. Bread is selected because it is easy to pocess and eaten by all age groups.
The 4 main ingredients use to make bread on IBU are Jackfruit seed flour, Pumpkin flour and Cempedak seed flour.

Jackfruit seed flour

• Jackfruit seed flour is a good source of dietary fibre, protein and resistant starch.
• As a dietary fibre source, it helps to prevent constipation.

Pumpkin flour

• Pumpkin flour has a longer shelf-life.
• The yellow colour of the flour is used as natural colourant in foods.
• It also provides a valuable source of carotenoids, which add as provitamin A and as antioxidant.
  

Cempedak seed flour

• Cempedak seed flour is a good source of total dietary fibre and resistant starch
• It maintain the eating qualities of white bread yet providing the dietary fibre.

Haruan Spray
There should have Haruan Spray in the first aid kit.

• Haruan contains all essential amino acids and unique fatty acids which are able to accelerate wound healing.
• Spraying the aerosol reduces pain that otherwise will result from the mechanical ribbing of cream or gel.
• Aerosal's production process is sterile.
• Biocompatible polymer in aerosol concentration will produce a layer of film when sprated onto the injures area which can cover any size of wound and stop bleeding.
• Has soothing effect and comfortable on the skin
• Does not disturb wound bed on removal of the film

Dielectric Antenna
This dieletric antenna is used for wireless application between IBU and others pondok.

• Dieletric resonator antennas antennas can have a wider impedance bandwidth than microstrip patches, a very high radiation efficiency, smaller than conventional metal antennas and more resistant to proximity detuning when placed close to another object.
• This antenna has a big potential in wireless applications.
• This will help the in communication between IBU and all pondoks
  

Aqua VideoT
Aqua Marine Video Enhancement Tool(AquaVideoT) can help the IBU to identify the location by understanding the situation under the sea.

• AquaVideoT has been developed to overcome problems faced by marine videos and pictures.
• It can also use to check the base of the IBU.
  

FireBuster
FireBuster is an automatic fire detection system for the safety of IBU.

• FireBuster is a state-of-the art automatic fire detection system integrated into a surveilance camera sistem.
• It is designed to identify a developing fire emergency in a timely manner, and immediate alert the building's occupants for an emergency evacuation.

This figure shows the main structure in the IBU:

• Water Treatment System is located under IBU in order to save the space.
• The bakery machine is placed on the upper floor to decrease the separation of heat in IBU.
• First aid kit and FireBuster should have at every floors.

In term of space, there are 2 parts which are seen and unseen.For the seen space, there are a lot of spaces at the Penang Times square which filled up with fountains, statues, stage, tent and so on. In another space which is unseen space, it is a space that where all the meaning, history, and why we are celebrate merdeka of.We should think about whether there are “tanah tumpah darahku” or not, are we merdeka, what we are merdeka from…
